Bryan Randall News
After it was revealed that photographer Bryan Randall had died of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a celebrity tabloid magazine in the US came under fire for reporting that Sandra Bullock and her longtime partner had a “messy split”.
According to reports, Bullock and Randall’s individual images appeared on the cover of the most recent issue of Star magazine, formerly known as In Touch Weekly, with the headline “Sandra and Bryan: It’s Over.”
US magazine sparks backlash for reporting Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall ‘split’ six days after his death
The issue, however, wasn’t made public until Friday, August 11, barely four days after Randall’s passing on Monday, August 7, according to his family. After a personal three-year battle with ALS, he “passed away peacefully” on Saturday, 5 August.
Many people have remarked on a screenshot that Twitter user Paul Lang uploaded that appears to show the magazine’s cover, criticizing the publication for its erroneous and “insensitive” reporting.
It must have been a very long week for the editors at Star magazine to wait for this cover to be released today, Lang stated in his article.
The writing on the cover image also states: “How she told the kids; Why Bryan walked away after eight years; Awkward bickering at dinner parties!”
Lang published what looked to be an excerpt of the article from the magazine’s online version in a different post. Bullock and Randall were cited as “drifting apart and leading separate lives for a while,” according to an unnamed source.
The source added that Bullock’s Hollywood profession meant that Randall was “often left home alone with Sandra’s kids Louis, 13, and Laila, 11, while she was off filming,” and that this made him “resentful.”
Following the news of Randall’s passing earlier this week, condolences for the photographer flooded in, with many people praising Bullock for being kind and supporting spouse during his sickness.
In a moving Instagram post, Gesine Bullock-Prado, her sister, complimented her for being the “best of caretakers” and for assembling a “band of nurses who helped look after him in their home.”
Octavia Spencer, a close friend and longtime co-star of Bullock, also commented on Instagram that Bullock had lost her “soulmate” and that her “heart is broken for Sandy and Bryan.”
The Lost City actor and Randall were believed to have been dating up to his passing last weekend. They originally met in 2015. She referred to Randall as “the love of my life” and their family as the “best thing ever” in an interview on Red Table Talk in 2021.
