After securing a “sweetheart” plea agreement for the first son in June, Breitbart politics writer Emma-Jo Morris stated it would be “appropriate” for newly appointed special counsel David Weiss to “recuse himself” from the probe into Hunter Biden’s business operations.

Weiss defended his investigation into Hunter Biden’s financial transactions after he revealed that Hunter had consented to attend a diversion program for a felony gun charge and to plead guilty to two tax offenses that were misdemeanors, keeping him out of jail.

When U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika refused to accept particular terms of the plea agreement, the arrangement fell through last month.

Morris stated on “Sunday Morning Futures” that the probe of the Biden family’s international business connections by House Republicans might be hampered by the selection of Weiss as special counsel.

She asserted that a probe into President Biden’s impeachment would provide the House Oversight Committee “stronger subpoena power” and, from a legislative perspective, enable them to behave “more like a prosecutor.”

We’ve all been wondering: What is Joe Biden’s participation in the business? I believe that would enable the House to collect the documents and truly get to the heart of the matter. Morris enquired.

John Solomon, the executive editor of Just the News, also stated that IRS informants “exposed” Weiss for his “interference” in the Hunter Biden case and for “letting the statute of limitations expire on much more serious offenses.”

“[Weiss] has an opportunity because he’s moving the case from Delaware to Los Angeles and Washington, which were the two districts where Hunter Biden resided at the time he filed false tax returns. If he brings a superseding indictment and it has more serious charges, for example, he can go back and charge the 2014 stuff by bringing a conspiracy case and claiming that the failure to pay taxes in 2017 was a long-running conspiracy. Republicans and conservatives, who have long mistrusted him, will support him much more, in my opinion, if he does that, Solomon told anchor Maria Bartiromo.

“He’s in big trouble if he just warms up the same case.”

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the chair of the House Oversight Committee, charged that the appointment of Weiss as special counsel was an attempt by the DOJ to “cover up” the alleged crimes against the Biden family.

“This action by Attorney General Garland is a part of the Justice Department’s attempts to cover up the Biden family’s involvement in plans to sell ‘the brand’ to foreign nationals for millions of dollars, according to the House Oversight Committee’s growing body of evidence. The criminal investigation into Hunter Biden was tainted by Justice Department malfeasance and politicization, which made it possible for the statute of limitations to expire with regard to the serious charges that Biden had committed. Justice Department officials failed to follow up on information that would have pointed to Joe Biden, informed the Biden transition team and Hunter Biden’s attorneys about upcoming searches and interviews, and tried to slyly set Hunter Biden up for a sweetheart plea offer, according to Comer.

“Let’s be clear about the underlying purpose of today’s action. As we have shown the American people evidence of the Biden family’s criminality, the Biden Justice Department is attempting to obstruct congressional oversight, he continued.

“To assess whether foreign actors targeted the Bidens, President Biden is corrupted and corrupt, and our national security is at risk, the House Oversight Committee will continue to trace the money trail of the Biden family and interview witnesses. We will also keep collaborating with the House Committees on Ways and Means and the Judiciary to weed out Justice Department malfeasance and hold wrongdoers accountable for using law enforcement authority for their own ends.
