Eugene Daniels Career

Daniels worked as a summer intern for four months, from May to August 2010, at Northern Colorado 5, the only news outlet covering Northern Colorado.

During his internship there, he assisted news and sports reporters with recording and editing.

He helped to produce news and sports programs as well.

In addition, from 2009 to 2012, he presided over the NCAA Division I National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

His responsibility was to make sure that student-athletes from various regions of the nation were represented in discussions about health-related issues.

Rise to Stardom

He served The Rocky Mountain Collegian from 2010 to 2012 as a reporter, anchor, host, writer, and member of the editorial board.

During his tenure there, he worked as a Campus Television anchor and reporter as well as the host of the conversation show Daniels After Dark. He also hosted a radio program called KSU and worked as a magazine correspondent for College Avenue.

He then worked as a content producer at KOAA-TV. The designation was maintained by him from 2012 to 2015.

He was in charge of recording, writing, editing, and producing daily news programs and articles at KOAA-TV.

Daniels organized and oversaw field crews for daily material and story ideas while reporting breaking news, politics, crime, and features from 18 different countries in southern Colorado.

He served as a political correspondent for Newsy from 2015 until 2018.

He created videos for both companies on Politico’s website, covering the top stories, and collaborated with editorial leaders and producers to develop unique programs while there. He also authored, edited, and hosted a daily nocturnal political show. He also inspired the Newsy/Politico partnership.

Post Popularity

Daniels also covered health care, tax reform, the 2018 midterm elections, and the 2016 presidential election in addition to domestic policy and politics on and off Capitol Hill.

In addition, he maintained a vast network of contacts in the political arena while reporting on international policy and politics, particularly US national security and diplomatic ties.

After that, he started working for Politico in 2018 as a Political Reporter, where he remained until January 2021.

He currently works for Politico as a full-time White House correspondent and co-author of the Playbook Newsletter.

Daniels also has an intersecting identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a black person. He is engaged to Nate Stephens, a South Dakotan social change facilitator.

Politico

In addition to his work at Politico since 2018, Daniels has also covered the general election, the Democratic presidential primary, and the midterm elections in print, podcasts, and video journalism.

Daniels continues to provide accurate, timely stories on Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and other burgeoning Washington power players as a Playbook author and White House correspondent for Politico.

During the country’s confrontation with racism in 2020, he served as the host of Politico’s Confronting Inequality Town Hall series, which looked at how gaps in policing, housing, healthcare, education, and employment permeate and plague the United States.

Playbook Newsletter

In January 2021, Eugene Daniels joined Rachael Bade, Ryan Lizza, Tara Palmeri, and others as co-authors of the Politico Media Company’s Playbook Newsletter.

He continues to use and anchorage Politico’s many platforms as a part of the Playbook team.

He is the first openly LGBTQ+ person and the first black co-author of “Playbook.”

Additionally, he signed a contract with WME Entertainment and contributes to MSNBC.

Eugene Daniels Nailpolish

Before the advent of cable television, angry middle-aged to elderly white men dominated news programming. There weren’t many women, Black people, people of colour, or LGBTQ+ people in the area.

When pundits were only old, grouchy white men, Daniels was a pleasant change.

He is also recognized for portraying LGBTQ+ persons in the media, particularly for his love of nail polish.

The Advocate spoke with Daniels for an editorial that appeared in July 2021, focused on his love of nail polish and what it’s like to represent a new era and aesthetic of political punditry.

He told the portal that a crucial component of his personality is nail polish, just as it is his familiarity with politics and the media.

His love of nail polish, in his opinion, would not prevent him from discussing and writing about politics, voting rights, and foreign issues.

He said, “Right now I’m wearing really pretty yellow, orange, and blue colours on my fingers, so that’s my favorite today.” When asked about his favorite nail paint hues.

I don’t have a favorite colour in particular; I love every colour I wear.

Is Eugene Daniels a Gay?

Eugene Daniels is openly gay and self-identifies as both a person of colour and a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

He wed Nate Stephens, a South Dakota-based social exchange facilitator, as his spouse in 2021. He is presently engaged to Nate Stephens.
